So I just went to a new psychologist today. And even though I promised not to say a word about dissociation, she asked me what I hate about my body.. and I had to say something about the others so that I could go to the point of "I don't feel it like mine, it doesn't look like me" but she got me stuck on DID again -.- FF... ANYways.. I explained to her briefly about the alters and how I am an alter myself she kept going on and on and On.. about how this was like a whole universe and that a person has max 2 personalities..
So I go out the room and invite my mam in. So apparently she told my mam that I live in my own little world
Which will ruin Scar which is known to all of us, especially after last night -Vlad
And to be honest I am over it. How can a person hear that someone is delusional, that sees things and is suicidal and still lead to DID... I know its awfully negative from me but from now on to be honest I do not care about anything. Wanna tell me that I live in my own world and the whole "Im about to commit suicide" part is just imagination.. **** it. Go on.
Good luck to anyone having this problem. Hope your psychologist doesn't read off a book.

Oh man, that sounds so frustrating. I hope you are ok?

Will you be stuck with this psychologist for a while? If so how about trying to 'train her up'? Could you lend her a book about treating DID? There are some great introductions out there.

Sad thing is that there are barely no resources in my country. I don't even think she understood me right. I will be stuck with her. She is the only child psychologist in the.. country.. that does not require 50 bulgarian leva for a hour (about 25 euro, about 28 American dollars) which for a single mother with a 1 year old and 15 year old is way too much so.. yeah.. I don't really have choice :/ But we now (the whole system) think that she what she meant by that was that I find it hard to stay in the real world so maybe.. she makes a bit sense.. still pretty ignorant..
I will be okay.. used to it.

I know that its hard to understand, ....statistics wise..... the most documented number of alters in one physical body is only 16-20 here in the USA. I know some people with more than that. the problem stems from what constitutes a dissociative type alter vs other perceived alters that fit the criteria for being called other types of alters. to a person who has all these alters they all may seem the same but unfortunately or fortunately depending upon point of view treatment providers here in the USA have guidelines that they must follow so for example even though Cinder to me felt like an alternate personality she did not fit the diagnostics so my treatment providers could not consider her for diagnosis purposes.

it may be that in your location the ....statistical data and guidelines....that treatment providers have to go by is that a person with DID has two alternate personalities that fit a special set of criteria. treatment providers cant diagnose something that they dont have. if in describing your alters what you stated didnt fit the diagnostic criteria for what dissociative type alters are in your location then it cant get diagnosed as that in your location.

this is one of the conflicts many people run into. there are many different countries in the world and if someone hits the internet and self diagnoses their alters to be one way based on a set of criteria that isnt for their locations definitions and diagnostics it can get so upsetting when treatment providers in their location do not diagnose the same way.

my suggestion just keep going according to your own locations and treatment providers. either in time your locations definitions \diagnostics will catch up with other places or what treatment plans they have you on will help no matter what your diagnosis vs what you feel you have is. there is no one way to treat having alternate personalities and many times treatments for other disorders actually works for treating dissociative problems too.

as for the living in your own world.. some rare people with dissociative problems do have what america calls dual diagnosis of psychosis. psychosis is being out of touch with reality. since the diagnostics here in america say for DID reality testing remains intact when a dissociative has times when they are out of touch with reality it is diagnosed not part of the DID but another disorder called psychosis. I know many people that are dual diagnosed.

it may be the same way in your location that being out of touch with reality when you dissociate doesnt fit the DID diagnosis so they have no choice but to treat you for psychosis.

suggestion try and give it time, breath relax and follow your treatment providers. they know whats what in your location and who knows maybe their way of doing things will help you to feel better soon.

See it as a opportunity to learn more, maybe the psychologist wanted you to know how max 2 personalities are what ever number you have now. Everyone wants to be needed to ask her, well doc what are you getting at? Insert question here, or it is a just listen? Maybe it is her trying to keep you safe for the moment, so that an awkward reveal doesn't make you feel worse. Let's face it we can be contradicting, so its like darned if you do darned if you don't, I guess this is part of pain in T for DID. You don't have to share that with the psychologist, just don't cause your the patient and your agenda is what you should worry about cause ultimately you have to live your own life. Ask for all side bar conversations to cease so that it doesn't seem like alters popping out in every sentence, slow down the therapist should be okay with you slowing down with out you seeming like or someone asking why u talk so slow now. Talk about the inner world
