Hi. I've been trying to quit drinking alcohol, especially after work. But, there are Others that gets us drunk. I used to think it was just a need for the first drink thing, but now I know better. Get this, it took us 20 years to quit smoking.

Drinking makes the memory worse then what it already is. It's bad enough that there is missing time through out our day, but no recall for after work? It's weird seeing things posted on here, but I guess they can say the same about me.

What really sucks is I have to deal with the hangover while at work and they don't- They just want to get to have fun. They just won't listen to me and to reason.

You know what I mean? How do you convince your others to play ball?
Thanks for this!

When I wish for someone to do something they consider unpleasant or undesirable, and they wish for me to do something that I find unpleasant or undesirable - I suggest a compromise.

They want to have fun and play. You want to go to work without a hangover. Both are reasonable - what are you willing to give up to get what you want? Every morning during the weekdays, for instance, I spend between thirty minutes to an hour reading to a little from her collection of children's books. I don't know if I've come to enjoy it because it's pleasurable to hear her purr in the background or because the rest of my day goes so smoothly - but it is not only no longer a sacrifice of my time but something I enjoy doing for someone whom I've come to love and cherish.

I couldn't read to her if I had a horrible hangover. Wonder if that has anything to do with why I've been sober now for 8,869 days...

Awesome and good for you to quit smoking though! My desire one day to get me some help with therapy try to manage, not all, but some of my anxiety. Totally my go to thing bring me out of panic attack most times, that and going outside to smoke because we don't smoke in house. I'm thrilled to hear it. I suffered from liking Devils water which is, vodka for many years 10-12. Although I will crave it and still have to fight the urge. I haven't in about 4-5 years and I'm damn proud of that. Plus as you said the hangover dude would take a whole day or two to recover because I didn't bounce back like in my younger years. The affect it did to me later and hangovers is one of the main reasons I quit. Good luck to you hun figure out some priorities and compromise.
