Having a really hard time at work, working with single personality people. So frustrating cause the bosses make decisions based on not having all the facts so I have to suffer through there ignorance and it does not help that this movie "Split"came out so much disinformation that it's going to take years to get vack. Feeling judged! crew

Can you work in an environment without them knowing you have it? or maybe just go with the 'oh yeah I used to have that' sort of thing and not disclose that you have it now? one of my coworkers know but I have many coworkers, five bosses or so and two jobs and no one else knows at work because I can't handle them possibly knowing and judging.
I hope the stereotyping stops ![]() |

my first thought it how did they find out you have DID? here in the USA we have privacy laws and mental health laws that state hiring and firing and other work place issues can not be based on ones mental or physical health problems. the only way in NY that an employer and co workers can find out someone at work has a mental illness is if the person with mental illness tells them. if you feel you are being discriminated against because of your mental illness by your co workers or your employers you can contact the state ethics board and they will tell you how to get in touch with your locations civil rights department. civil rights department will investigate and make sure that your workplace, employers and employees are aware that its a crime in the the USA to discriminate or otherwise stigmatize a person with any mental or physical health problems. NY goes have zero tolerance laws for hate crimes and discrimination in the workplace. if you mean they are making work decisions based on how a normal non DID person would work on things well thats what the law says must happen when someone with any mental or physical health problems are working. the ADA laws are set up to ensure people with mental or physical health problems are treated just like a normal person is in the workplace and that if the mentally ill or physically challenged person needs any accommodations that will enable them to work and do the same kind of work that a normal person does the work place must see to it that accommodations are made to the extent of what the work place is required to do by law. see what I mean... Im not sure which you are feeling you are being judged about...did your workplace treat you like a normal person or as you call it a single personality person or did they discriminate against you..... in either case here is the link for NY states civil rights department... they can help you in making sure your place of employment is not committing any discrimination or other violations against people with DID, they can make sure things like hate crimes because of that movie does not happen in your workplace.... https://ag.ny.gov/bureau/civil-rights |
