Is DID, DR/DP, OSDD an interesting subject to you all? Curiosity maybe?

I see tons of views...what do you think? I'm curious as to your views if you don't mind. Please reply...I'm very interested even to the why.

Is this psych studies, curiosity, or referral?

I wish I heard about y'alls take on this (I think...yeah).

the views increase in different ways.... anyone in the whole world does a google search on dissociation will end up on psych central dissociative boards. example I know a high school student doing a health paper on depression. part of depression now in america is dissociation. so when she did a google search for depression psych central dissociation boards came up with any posts that contain the word dissociation or depression in them.

the views number also increases if members read the thread then leave it, then come back to type a reply. others are curious on what each of the forums on psych central is so that they post in the right forums.

sometimes members dont log in, they read the threads then decide to log in and write a reply so again the thread views count goes up.

sometimes people reply in a thread then come back to see if anyone answered their reply. so again the count goes up.

and yes I would not be surprised if people who happen on to the site because it "popped up" on their screens came in to check out what the whole deal was with this site and why it kept "popping up" on their computers.

the views are always going to be more than the replies because the site is searchable by google meaning anyone who types in a google search bar any mental disorder or issue on this site and boards will show up in a google search. from my understanding the site is listed as searchable to help with keeping the site free for members. its how other companies decide whether they want to place their ads on the site and donate to the site.

Sometimes some of the ones in my system with me are guests here I know Amsterdam comes here when he comes around most times its to see if somebody been writin that day or if he been feelin somethin he thinkin comin from one of us he maybe gonna look to see if they write about it. He dont type here lots cuz well i dont know how come but he dont most times sign in if he dont plan to type or nothin. Then if he dont sign in he cant be searchin our posts so he gotta just look at whats here and see. I dont know how come he dont just sign in. I think that sounds way easier.

I think it's sort of cool that at any given moment, someone viewing this forum as a guest could then choose to sign up

I barely view as a guest, the only time I do is if I want to get information from a thread which I know I posted too, but don't want to post at the time
Thanks for this!

yes thats what I like too, there are many people here and as people come and go there is always someone new to meet and connect with.

I do view as a guest where some days I am so busy I just have time to pop in and back out again. so I keep my profile set at invisible so my comings and goings dont upset anyone if they are sensitive to seeing a name appear and then 15 minutes later its gone and why didnt they answer my pm they show as being on in the who's online list...that kind of thing and sometimes I dont always log it at all even when invisible because I may not have time to long it. just a quick check on this or that.

We really shouldn't be concerned with the number of reads of a thread and only so many replies. Right now, at 3:11pm eastern time we have the following:

Quote:
What's Going On?

Currently Active Users: 2663 (176 members and 2487 guests)
So as you can see, we have 2487 guests viewing our site and reading threads. This goes on 24/7 365. We don't know who these guests are, they can't respond to give you the information you are looking for.

Since there is such a stigma surrounding mental illness and disorders, I think it's great that so many folks (guests) are here reading and hopefully learning about mental illness. Hopefully they can see we are just regular people trying to get through each day with a little help from our friends.
Thanks for this!

I often read without logging in--just a matter of time and not expecting to engage. And then go back and log in and view the thread again to comment.
Thanks for this!

that's why I subscribe to every thread I post too.

if I don't have time to actually come on here, I can still go in my emails and read what's been happening.

then go in and reply later.

(the option on here to view just your subscribed threads is a great help too).

I read alot. (About everything though)

I don't post though because I don't want to offend anyone or overstep any boundaries / make anyone feel unsafe for having a non nose around.

It's not research, just personal curiosity, I like learning about almost everything, and what better way than from actual people instead of textbooks...

I sometimes just browse and think. I have minor dissociation but I had no trauma in my life so I sometimes just wonder why I'm so weird and why I don't fit in anywhere.

I'm always logged in....passwords are just such a pain. Also knowing that I can't connect the dots keeps me from trying.

It's like reading words on a spinning ball....you read what's right in front of you, and as the ball turns away....so do the words and memory which is why it's hard to carry on a conversation or thread.

Some posts tend to be more like statements or updates. A lot of the times an Other wrote it....so it's like reading it for the first time...and may care less about the topic or it sounds stupid.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
