A few years ago i was dx w/ DID. I believe i was dx properly, the person was a specialist, and i did a lot of testing. I followed up w/ a t who was supposed to be a specialist.
Around...i dunno, a year or so ago? I stopped seeing her. I think she did more harm than good. I don't think this dx was correct.
My wife still thinks its correct.
But it never did me any good that I'm aware of, and if it was correct it would have, right?
I can agree i have some dissociative symptoms, yes, but not DID.
Is anyone else in disagreement with their diagnosis? What did you do in response?

i have not had this issue with the diagnosis of DID but with another one. but it didn't really change my overall treatment since they were similar, though the DID became the more predominate thing i struggled with too.

i don't question my DID diagnosis because i have not had reason to due to the fact i recall knowing some of the other parts in childhood and as the years went on as i got older began to meet them. i also had it confirmed by my therapist after being the one to bring it up. it was after i did that she was able to more officially even diagnose me since she had seen me on and off over a few years and wasn't 100% sure.

so i guess it really depends on your experience personally and if you could be in denial or just don't recall things or maybe things for you are just quiet so isn't much of an issue. that can happen too. i had many years where things were so quiet and stable for me that it was like i had never struggled, but then things stirred again which had me realize again that the others do exist and are real even when i still try to deny they are..
Thanks for this!
