Yesterday was my littles b-day and she had her wish list, which was actually extraordinarily reserved, but I tried to pick up a couple of extra things for her as well. She was having none of it. I tried to coerce her and it backfired. She gets an allowance and, since she gets to do whatever she wants with it without resistance from me, she decided she wanted to buy me some shirts... so shopping for her became her shopping for me.

It wasn't until today that I realized that she'll be wearing those clothes too - so an outside observer might think that it was more or less like a husband coming home and announcing to his wife that he bought her an RV. As long as they remain married, it's kind of his too. But it wasn't like that. They were for me - from her. Period. She has her own clothes.

So I started trying to think of other weird little dynamics we have. I found one for sure... stuffies. I can NOT put a stuffed animal in a bag or suitcase. Apparently they can't breath in there - who would thunk? So I dutifully don't put them anywhere they can't breath. If it gets too hot out and I'm on my way to work, I'll leave the air conditioner on for them. I know it's strange, but her distress over the welfare of her stuffies is so great that even if I didn't care about her, our day would be completely destroyed by an ongoing, internal panic attack.

So, any strange dynamics in your life because of alters?

Too many strange ones to count.
I can definitely relate to your post about the stuffies.
Thanks for this!

It's a circus for me sometimes when I "try" to get dressed to go somewhere. I Have in my mind what I want to wear, but I usually wind up changing clothes several times before I feel comfortable in what I wind up in.

That sounds like what you were describing. Maybe?

Most of my parts are very neutral. The Runner is out there and as vibrant as you can get.

There's the young one who likes pink and soft colors and the 12yo who likes the jeans and sandals.

We work together.

I can also relate to the stuffies.

I don't have words but I understand.

Yeah, stuffies are a big thing
We also have this thing of carrying sweets for Annie, she has a sweet tooth, but we cannot really process sugars, so we have to lie to her that the sweets are made with sugar, truth is they mostly are not even sweets.
Thanks for this!

I work with kids and have a growing collection of toys for work. When I go to the dollar store I have to be prepared! All my littles love toys and shopping trips and my head gets very loud with all the excitement and comments and requests. It can easily take an hour to get out of the store because of all the mini switching. I tend to lose my thoughts a lot in the process and I absolutely need a list on my phone to remind my what I went in there for!
My littles have their own toys, and once I considered bringing one to work to use with a client, but Ash was quick to let me know that was absolutely unacceptable! Oh my, if I hadn't listened to him or wasn't in touch with Ash we certainly would have had some kind of awful emotional experience! So we all know that their toys are off limits for anyone else, but they can use my toys when we're at home. I still need to work out an allowance for toys, though. It would help a lot!

You mean, when you go to the twenty dollar store, don't you?
