Okay. I joined for the sole reason that I think I have a Dissociative issue.
I'm twenty-four, female, also have ADHD and Social Anxiety.

For as long as I can remember I've always had different personalities (I guess) in my head. It's like they're my voice, one single voice talking, but they aren't me. They each have different traits/personalities. Is this making sense?

Another thing is, my body sometimes (If I think on it) feels like a shell. Not like I'm empty shell of my former self, but similar one of those fake plastic easter eggs you'd find around easter and get little prizes in or those capsule machine prizes. I'm the thing inside and the capsule is my body!

Back to the multiple personalties thing, I don't think its like DID, but I don't really know. What I read from people who have is its like multiple voices, each a different personality and name and age. And they control that person and the "host" or whoever doesn't remember it.

The only time I had something similar to that was when I use to get really angry. I became wrath itself. I remember one time slightly, remember it.. I was angry at my sister and had scissors pointed at her ready to strike. I don't remember being in control of my actions at all and can only remember hearing her shout "STOP!" When I remember I see myself out of my body *But most of my memories are that way, either that or they feel like dreams...

I got distracted, what I mean to say is these voices in my head are all one single voice, but they,re different. Male and female voices. Like there's one that's kind of motherly, she always gives me good choices and says I should sleep or rest. Though I don't listen to her.. usually.

There's this other voice that's male that always calls me stupid (but in a friendlyish way not threatening) There's not really full body controls, just like controlling my hand or smacking me with my own hand..

Oh by the way, I don't know how many voices there and none of them have names.

I hope I don't sound crazy here... I told my ex this and she was... confused and didn't want to talk about it. Same with my friend he thought I was making it all up.

I think that's all, sorry if my post seems to jump around.

first I see that you are new. welcome.

if you look at the bottom of every page you will see this.....

The material on this site is for informational purposes only, and is not a substitute for medical advice,
diagnosis or treatment provided by a qualified health care provider.
Always consult your doctor or mental health professional before trying anything you read here.

what that means is we are able to diagnose or tell you what your own problems are called in you. only your own doctors, therapists, psychiatrists can do that...

(this brings me to your title question of whether this is a dissociative thing in you... my answer sorry I cant answer that. to find out what this is with in you, you will need to contact your own treatment providers off the computer.)

what I can tell you is that in me what you posted was called by many different mental and physical health problems. for example today my hearing voices is from my MS disease (a physical not mental problem), my doctors ended up making some changes to my meds so hopefully I wont be hearing those medication/ ms induced voices. I have also head voices from my dissociative problems, my bipolar problems my sleep problems, my dietary problems... there are so many things that caused/ cause me to hear voices.

my suggestion if this continues to bother you contact your doctors in your off the computer location. they will be able to diagnose and treat you for it.

Doesn't sound crazy at all. There is a continuum in dissociative disorder & DID. Some people have two personalities. Have read of people having 4,000. Keep posting here and see what fits. The best thing is to find a therapist with dissociative experience and talk it over.

There is definitely a continuum. Most people can relate to having an inner child, or to having parts that feel differently about situations. They might say that their gut says to do something even though that doesn't make sense or something like that.

I agree that probably the best course of action is to seek an opinion from a psychologist or therapist with experience with dissociative disorders. Whether or not you fit the actual diagnostic criteria, they may be able to help you.

Each person who has a dissociative disorder exhibits the symptoms differently. We all have different personalities. We all had different family members with different personalities. We all were traumatized in different ways.

I know that I have sides to me that act more like my Brother than me. I have other sides of me that act more like my Mom. The personality that acts like my Brother is arrogant and cocky. The personality that acts like my Mom is the more crazy of the two because my Mom was mentally ill and very likely had a dissociative disorder.

The thing is I can't really do that because doctors, therapists, life coaches, medicines, or whatever. I'm not.... I'm not able to do those things. I know it's probably easy, just drive there and I can't I cannot drive anywhere. I don't have a vehicle or money, and my parents don't really believe me when I say things like this. Sorry I wasted your time with my useless problem.

Hey there CannelleRoll. Welcome. You haven't wasted anyone's time here and your problem isn't useless. Of course you didn't expect to be diagnosed by posting on this forum. This is a support site, so you came to the right place (one of them anyway, there are lots of dissociative forums on the web!) This is a place where people can talk about their problems and experiences with dissociative symptoms with other people who experience similar things. You don't have to be diagnosed with a dissociative disorder to be here an you don't have to be seen by a mental health professional to be here. You are welcome here.
It is true that we can't diagnose you and I am sure you didn't come here with any expectation of that anyway but we can share our own experiences and we can give support and we can hear you and we can respond to you as a human being.
So welcome. Some of your dissociative experiences sound similar to some of mine. I hope you stick around.
Thanks for this!
