it feels so strange.

in my system, all the insiders are diffrent- and it's usually pretty obvious if someone does something, you know who it is

that's why it's so odd that, for example, alters that don't listen to music decide to listen to it, or alters that don't like a certain food eat it.

does anyone find it really weird when alters act out of character?

I don't find it weird. Maybe because as a system our goal is to share information and get to know each other better and I fin as we do that, as we really try to tune in to one another different parts are trying different things and finding they aren't so bad. So I suppose I don't find it strange in me because we are all trying to learn and grow.
Sorry, I know that's not what you mean. Do you have any idea why some alters are doing things differently in you?

Yes, but I think I am like Amyjay. I wonder what is going on, but I assume that it means that the parts are becoming less separate. Or maybe more cooperative. I tend to assume it is a good thing.

no i never found it to be weird, each of my alters had their own way of being, when one would suddenly do something that they could not previously do my therapist called it evolving and preparing for integration. this was the stage where my alters started sharing and becoming one with me and each other.

example when Rainy suddenly knew how to cook a complete meal instead of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich I knew she was able to merge with me and share my memories of how to cook a pot roast, mashed potatoes, beef gravy, peas and a strawberry rhubarb pie. it wasnt long after this that she was totally and completely forever merged together with me to be one whole person with me again. now I enjoy PBJ's as much as I enjoy a complete meal.

my suggestion if this continues to bother you contact a treatment provider who can help you to discover how and why this is happening in you.

I haven't noticed parts beginning to do things that they didn't do in the past. They seem to be the same as they were when I first began realizing they were there.

But yes, I find it surprising, puzzling, and sometimes even a bit scary when a part of me appears and I act so uncharacteristically. I act normal most of the time, except when I get triggered and the other parts show up. Then I can seem very different, and that feels unsafe, because I like to be in control of myself at all times.

What you described sounds like you are starting to have more communication between parts and maybe even integrating a little bit. I could be wrong, though, because I don't know much about integration.

hmm, I had some idea at one point, but was too afraid to bring it up with anyone- so never really knew.

my loss, I guess

I always dismiss that kind of stuff as a co con thing, like someone else is close to the surface when whoever is up front and center and that's why they are acting different. That's how it has historically gone for me anyway. *shrugs*
