I’ve always hated mirrors and pictures, just by the fact of the lack of connection, recognition, and lack of memory. So does the others...some worse then others.

But....I just had a flash of an idea....what if I put mirrors on every wall in every room so my reflection will be seen most of all the time to help keep me me. Think that will work?

Thoughts?

Nvm....just looked in the mirror...bad idea whoever thought of this. It was cruel and devastating. I want NO mirrors...at least from the neck up.

Actually AC, it's not a bad idea. Maybe not every room, but here and
there and give yourself some time to get used to it. Once you really recognize yourself, and I think you understand what I mean, it's more difficult to disassociate when the tribe is looking at the core.

It makes me very sad that you don't like pictures. Art is one of the
great loves in my life and I can become lost in the beauty of a Monet
or a Dega. My greatest dream is to visit the Louvre before I leave this
life. I hope you will find an artist whose work brings you peace and joy.

Plato said, "The life unexamined is not worth living." I know you have a rich interior life (perhaps too rich at times!) so I know you will find a
love of color to brighten it. I think you would like Michael Parke's, a
brilliant dutch painter. If you get a chance to look him up, let me know
what you think.

And yes, I believe this still ties into your original query. Do you think
any of the others would agree.

Don't worry so much, my friend. Flower

I never had a problem with mirrors. i think its because I was and am surrounded by all kinds of reflective things..... car mirrors, windows that reflect my image when I stand in front of them to look outside, the utensils I cook and eat with, the paint on my canoe that I use for rowing around the lakes, bodies of water and other liquids (beverages like water, beer, alcoholic drinks, milk, juice.....) even those in drinking mugs/ glasses ad glass bottles will reflect ones image back to the person that is drinking it, many foods like soups and sauces also reflect ones image...

my point is that there is no way to avoid seeing my reflection, I mean when I really think about it if I hated looking in mirrors I wouldnt even go to my windows to look outside and enjoy the birds, grass, leaves and other out door things because I would never be looking outside at them I would be avoiding every single reflective surface if I didnt like mirrors... even community events, sports and going our to dinner, or going to the doctors, going to therapy, going to work....even coming online I am faced with a mirror (the reflective surface... my computer screen, my laptop screen or my cell phone screen... I just cant get away from reflective surfaces so I guess its a great thing that I have never had any problem with mirrors and neither did my alters.

as for your idea of putting up mirrors because you hate them... I dont think it will work that way... my opinion is if mirrors are triggering you then dont add more to your life, instead take out of your life all the reflective surfaces in your life, that way you will have a much more comfortable and less triggering life.

Idk....it was a good idea to one of the guy parts,...but it sounds awful to me....it also sounds abusive and aggressive....to have a constant reminder of your mental trap.....
I feel trapped...but a constant image can only make us more distraught.

So I vote for zero to no unnecessary mirrors allowed. And thank you to those that understand.... let’s not feed the Hate.

The pictures that I refer to are selfies, mirrored reflections, portraits, old photos,....anything with this body in it.

I love Vincent Van Gogh....such an unintended proponent for mental illness. I just feel comfortable with his pain which mirrors my own.

Peace and love sweetie.

I’ve been going to the dentist and my entire top row is missing...kinda not liking it. At least with mirrors and pictures I don’t look at them. Just saying.

I do seem to gloss over them as if they were just part of the environment....I just don’t stare to avoid acknowledging them as a self. But I do get into a staring contest...looking deep into the eyes looking for familiarity but not seeing none....a stranger staring right back...

I am just reading around being a newbie..and came across your post.
When I see myself, sometimes I wonder "who is that?" till I realize hang on, mirror..so that would be me in there. Looking at myself thinking.."huh, I thought you looked different"..
