Whenever I go to events that have loud noise, I find it really hard to talk to people around me. I don't have the ability to hear my voice and other people don't hear and I hate this because I really want to talk to people sometimes.

in .....me...... derealization is feeling like everything around me is far away from me, feeling numb and disconnected like an observer but yet knowing they and everything around me is real even though it .........feels.........unreal. sometimes almost like everything outside of me is moving and happening at a different rate / speed then I am. here is what ...... my........ location calls depersonalization / derealization .... Depersonalization/derealization Disorder 300.6 (F48.1) A the presence of persistant or recurrent experiences of depersonalization, derealization or both: 1. Depersonalization: Experiences of unreality, detachment or being outside observer with respect to ones thoughts, feelings, sensations, body or actions (e.g perceptual alterations, distorted sense of time, unreal or absent self, emotional or physical numbing) 2. Derealization: experiences of unreality or detachment with respect to surroundings (e.g. individuals or objects are experienced as unreal dreamlike, foggy, lifeless or visually distorted) B. During the depersonalization or derealization experiences, reality testing remains intact. C. the symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. D. the disturbance is not attributable to the physiological effects of a substance (e.g. a drug of abuse, medication) or other medical condition. (e.g. Seizures) E. The disturbance is not better explained by another mental disorder such as schizophrenia, panic disorder, major depressive disorder, acute stress disorder, post traumatic stress disorder or other dissociative disorder. suggestion if this continues to bother you contact your treatment providers (medical doctor or mental health therapist. mental health psychiatrist) they will be able to help you with this. another suggestion..... sometimes in crowds it helps me to wear ear protection like muffs, head phones, and other ear protections that are specially made for lowering the volume on noise when out in public so that no damage to the ears can happen and helps with sensitivities to noise. |

How about leaving and finding a more intimate setting like a cafe or something?

It's hard to be heard in loud places. I prefer quieter places myself.
