I got back to Lake City, Florida in June 2017. So I have been back one year and about three months. For the first month I stayed in motel rooms until the Veterans' Domiciliary could admit me. During that time I drank beer continually. Never once did I have a memory black-out.

But, after moving back into the domiciliary I have had five to six black-outs at the two pubs that I have frequented a billion times since moving up to Lake City. I do not understand it. I remember entering the pubs and having the first few beers, then boom! I do not remember anything else and do not remember how I got back to the domiciliary. In a couple of cases I lost my credit card.

One pub is named the Long Branch and the other pub is named O'Dells. The Long Branch is across the street from the VA Clinic. O'Dells is right down the road from the entrance to the Domiciliary.

The last black-out occurred on Wednesday, September 5 at O'Dells. I remember going in, Mike was bar tending, and I remember ordering a pitcher of beer. Then boom! I do not remember anything else and do not remember getting back to the domiciliary. This time I did not lose my credit card, but I lost my eye glasses and room keys. It makes me extremely angry.

I suspect I am switching personalities. But I am wondering if someone has learned how to trigger me and is doing it on purpose. I had told myself that I was not going to take my credit card to the bar anymore. Now, that is a definite. I am giving the card to the administration to hold for me until I need it for something other than alcohol!!!!

well according to your post this is only happening when you go to the bar and drink right, so based on your post my first thought is the drinking. there might be something about what you are drinking or how much that may be causing your black outs, not a diagnosis mind you just taking a guess based on what you posted.

to find out for sure if this is part of your dissociation, meds or other problems including drinking my suggestion is contact your doctors. they will be able to tell you why this is happening just when you go to the bar. and what you need to do to stop it from happening.
Thanks for this!

Must be very disconcerting to be losing things on top of the blackouts. Sounds like a very smart move to not have your card with you.

Sounds like alcohol is the reason for you black outs.

I am an old hat at drinking beer. I have lived in Lake City since 2005. I have been in these bars thousands of times and drank to intoxication without having a memory black-out. I know from the hang-over if I have drank enough to have an alcohol black-out. The last time maybe I had enough but probably not.

Some of the guys here tell me that I am older and my body must have changed. I do not buy it. I was in Athens, Georgia for a full year, I drank every day and I did not have anything like this happen to me from May 2016 to May of 2017.

I believe that my alters are screwing with me.

bodies change all the time

I once heard that every 7 years something about your body changes. I don't know if it's true, but regardless of if it is or not, things do change- and alcohol might not be the best thing anymore

I am sorry you had the blackouts
Thanks for this!

We drink beer all the time after work, and drink quite a lot because everyone wants a turn to drink... beers disappear from the fridge turned into empty cans. We seldom blackout unless it’s liquor which is hands off.

Every now and then, I will drink one beer then bam it’s morning time.

The only thing that makes any sense of it is another part really wanted to do the drinking.

You know a few drinks on an empty stomach gets one drunk faster then not. Could of been or something else. Best ask someone that was there with you.
Thanks for this!
