a man held a knife to my throat and had no intention of letting it go or walking away

he only let go because his phone rang and he had to answer it

I feel lucky to be alive today as I may not be if it wasn't for that phonecall

not being abused (physical anyway) for a whole year is massive

I wish it was emotional abuse too, sadly I'm being emotionally abused every day

but this is a start

I'm so sorry you went through all of this, raging vortex I'm really happy that you're alive and that you're here with us. The world wouldn't be the same without you here. I hope that horrible man got arrested and got what he deserved! Some people are just awful. I'm so sorry you've had to go through that. You didn't deserve it at all. I hope you're feeling a bit better now! I hope your emotional abuse will stop soon as well. I'd suggest to cut off contacts with all the toxic people in your life if you can. Although perhaps you would have already done it if you could. I'm so sorry. It must be very hard for you. You deserve nothing but kindness and love in your life. Like you've said though, this is a start. Hopefully things will only get better from here. Don't give up hope! I'm sure you'll get through this just fine. You're a strong, wonderful person. the man in question had an autistic woman under his care also (severely autistic), and I know she got a lot of abuse too

when she screamed she would be slapped, her favorite calming dvds were snapped, and she used to get irritated when people used her first name hannah, so he'd use hannah just to see her react.

I don't know what's going on with him now, I don't live in the same area

I'd like to think he's had the girl taken away

sorry you are going through this... on your not knowing what happened to this person have you tired google, or searching his name on facebook, twitter and other places where people "gather" from around the world. at the very least you may find an obit, court records, or family of his that may at some point post about this person... Thats how I found my childhood best friend one time.
