Does anyone have any comment on Herschel Walker telling everyone he has DID? I haven't heard anyone talking about it at all. Has it made anyone else nervous or anxious or anything? Any other comments?

hi wrenchergirl,
i am so glad that herschel has "come out of the closet" so to speak.
i have read his book (his story) and it makes sense. of course with any book i take what relates and leave the rest. it was a little redundant and he has a strong religious faith...anything with religion usually gets to me but i thought that he wasn't advocating...just telling about himself...these are just my opinions.
i think he is very brave. he's taking a lot of criticism but handling it well. he says that he's talking about it so that it will help others. i do believe that. it really doesn't make me anxious. it makes me feel proud of him. at first i thought OMG with his story out in the open....people around me are going to figure out about me.....not true though. i'm finding it positive for myself that he has done this.
These are only my opinions. Nothing more.

Take care,
Ker

Hi wrenchergirl,
I saw a post about it in General a while back and read the article, but I haven't read or heard anything since then.

I haven't read his book nor did I see the television programme but I tend to shy away from that stuff and just stick with what my T says about DID in general.

I'm not sure how I feel about it, though I've heard both positives and negatives about it.

If it helps the mental health field, then I think it's great. I am concerned though that it could cause more damage than not, but I don't know enough to give an educated opinion on him.

TV has a way of making mental health issues way out of whack. I guess time will tell. Herschel Walker

How do you feel about it?
