This happens a lot but now I see I don’t perceive my surroundings like I should before I knew this was because of parts I don’t think I seen what the difference was.
I think One thing is happening and yet it wasn’t that way at all, sometimes I see little clips of reality but part of me is making up the rest or living the rest.
I was in this ordeal a while back and couldn’t figure out what happened until today, I caught a clip/flashback of what I was doing while I was suppose to be doing something else and the only reason I know the difference is because I was told( I trust who told me) . But while I was doing the said other thing, which I have no memory of I thought I was crying with my face in the wall laying down, infact I was having fun, and not turned to the wall, not crying, but laying down. I’ve noticed that this is whats wrong when I go about my days, I see one thing but part of me sees if differently and so I’m mixed up again. Stressed, paniced etc
Does this sound familiar

Sounds like flashbacks. There are some great grounding things you can do that might help. I think they are in the sticky note area in the PTSD forum.

Take care. Perceiving mixed up!

This isn't exactly what you're talking about, I don't think...today I suddenly realized: (A) I was driving my car! and (B) I had no idea where I was! Two of my kids were with me. It was almost like I "came to" driving down the road. Really strange.

I did figure out where I was/where I was going/etc. so it all worked out okay.

The last thing I remembered before that was that I was in the car in a parking lot and starting to feel very "teenager"ish and I turned up the music in the car REALLY loudly (my kids were thrilled! ha ha) and then the next thing I knew I had that moment where I was driving and didn't know where i was. I had groceries, so obviously between the two moments I remember, I got my grocery shopping done - and I was at Whole Foods and bought myself a cool shirt too Perceiving mixed up!

I have some hazy, dreamy memories of a couple of moments in the shopping trip.

Is that weird? Or normal? Or????

Yes, I've done that too, drive and end up somewhere and thought huh, how did I get>>and I remember a thing or too, try fast to add it up and O.k. but what the heck. It's scary cause if your not at the wheel and you can't see yourself behind that other part then who the heck is driving?
I just don't understand why one part would make up that she is crying and that never happened.
Earthmama-sure glad you got a new cool shirt!

Earthmama,

I've heard others who are split say things just like that - or maybe I just read it about being split. I'm sure its very disconcerting when things like that happen to you. For some reason I don't do that, and I'm glad - I do enough stuff that makes life weird.

I do things and they're clear and then I switch and they disappear in my head somewhere and I get really cloudy. It seems to happen like that when I see my counselor and when I'm doing things with my husband or family. It doesn't take much stress to get fuzzy. All of us get mixed up perceptions, its part of who we are. Hiding like this kept us going for a long time as kids and its just that it doesn't serve well for being adults some times. But we're still here and that's what matters, right?

Leslie and Mariah

Yeah, what usually happens to me is the "getting fuzzy" feeling. I guess I do have a lot of times where I'll be in the shower or something and realize I have literally no idea what the time of day, day, or even season is. So maybe I do both?

But I don't know if I ever remember anything like what happened in my van yesterday - just suddenly realizing - I'm driving - and WHERE AM I?

Although I do have kind of hazy, dreamy memories of a few moments in Whole Foods.

Blah. Too much stress lately. Perceiving mixed up!
