I've been told that I have episodes of dissaciative fugue. But I've read that it should only happen once. It happens to me at least twice a month sometimes more. I get inmy car and just drive ending up somewhere a couple of hours awy and don't know how I got. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

as far as i know, dissociative fugue happens after a traumatic event. like natural disasters, accidents, things like that. surely they don't happen that often? also from what i've read it also often includes creating a new identity for yourself. was it your doctor who told you this? well, i'm not too educated on the dissociative fugue part so a lot of this is speculation.

this happens to me a lot too, but it is either because i am not paying attention to where i'm going, or it is another alter driving. sometimes they can get me into pretty dangerous places, which is not good. do you know the places you've gone to? as in, are they somehow a part of your past?

though on the other hand, i was also told by my driving instructor that finding yourself in weird places and having no recollection of how you got there is a fairly common phenomenon. but then he also said one should avoid driving when you feel spaced out to prevent this.

maybe you would like to do more research on other dissociative disorders and types of dissociation to get more insight on what's going on, and share it with your doc.
