Amanda Louise...

Your school sounds nice! And with a lake next to the dining hall....that sounds relaxing. I have family that lives in Upstate NY. They say there are several lakes around. I researched colleges there once, but I don't recall seeing a campus with a lake.... Man...I think I might be missing out!!

That's okay...Oregon is BEAUTIFUL!!! Big, bright, CRYSTAL blue skies in the Spring time!!

Sorry when I titled the thread I didntmean to exclude anyone. the thread that I asked to be deleted was called About me. that thread was supposed to be an introduction of me, but because I made a mistake and put something that wasnt allowed in my post, and even though the moderators edited that part out of my introduction post the thread kept going off onto that topic that isnt allowed for discussion. I thought it would be easier on everyone if we just deleted that thread called About me and start anew. When I tried to name the thread the same "about me" for introducing myself to you all It kept telling me that the title about me already exists do I had to pick another title. I just stuck "all" in front of "About me" cause I couldnt think of another title for introducing me to you all.

Sorry I really didnt mean it to mean I was excluding anyone.

No wonder you cant find it. you are looking for colleges near a lake. by lake I dont mean the kinds you go swimming or fish in. LOL right now there is a spot out back that has water in it from the snow and rain, cause the land is uneven. We have come to call this spot the lake. By summer it will all be dried up unless the college takes us up on our idea of having a small man made lake out there which I doubt they will. The tarrace and "lake" where I like to hang out isnt off the dining hall. Yup theres lots of lakes in upstate NY like Lake Champlain, Lake Erie, lake George, Saranac lake, cayuga lake, Lake Harris, black lake, Minerva Lake,

the college Im going to right now is clinton Community College for two courses and plattsburgh State for one course. Both are located in plattsbugh new york.

Plattsbugh is a small city on Lake Champlain. There is a place here in town some of us call monument hill. Its like a park with a place to have picnics, feed the ducks that are swiming on the lake and if you dont mind swimming where the ducks do you can swim there too the cement wall has steps going down into the lake. Wouldnt advise going barefoot though. and wouldnt wear new sneakers the bottom is kind of mucky and some people who have drinking parties there have been known to throw their bottles in. The town clean up crew tries to keep up with keeping the lake near the wall clean, but they cant be there all the time. Theres also these really cool bricks by the monument statue. they say all kinds of things on them like peoples names and dates, in memory of bricks, quotes, store names, the colleges names, and groups in the town. Sometimes I ride the ferry over to burlington just to watch the water. We have a loch ness monster here called Champ in lake champlain. I havent seen it yet. maybe one of these days.

Did you mean Plattsburgh? Not sure because you spelled it wrong three times, leaving out the r. You wrote it as Plattsbugh. Three times.

[QUOTE]Im a college student so most of my interating with peers is sitting in a classroom or hanging out in the lunch room called beadrick hall something like that. every room and builing on campus has a name that is Something Hall. Sometimes I hang out out on the terrace. this college is right on the edge of the lake. Its real quiet out there most of the time.[QUOTE]

My bad AL....I guess I got the WRONG impression from what you said earlier when you said the college was on the edge of a lake?

LOL it is at the edge of a lake (lake Champlain) but I was talking about the snow and rain "lake" that sits just off the terrace. Sorry to confuse you.

AL.....?

Which driveway are you talking about exactly? The road goes right up to the front door of the Main Building!!? The drive up was nice though.

From what I remember, the veranda/terrace place was nice, but it's a walk to the bathrooms...

theres only one driveway up the mountain side to the college. the main road doesnt go up to the main building. CCC is in the adirondack Mountains. you have to turn off the main road onto the long curvy driveway that takes you upwards. the drive way is like traveling through the the deep woods because its forest land on both sides of the drive way. It takes you about three minutes of driving upwards on this curvy drive way then it comes to the clearing, then up past 2 of the three front parking lots, one near the gym building and the other to the side of the main building then it comes to the front door of the main building. The only thing different that they have done over the years since it became a college after being a hotel was that CCC widened the driveway and put railings in on the outside lane coming down the mountain cause its like a drop off cliff only with trees.

there is a map of CCC on their website. If you look at that you will see part of the drive way. on the left side you can see where the drive way runs off the page? thats where it starts down the mountain. on the right side of the page you can see a Y road spot. if you go down that way you will be brought around to connect with the road coming down the mountain on the left just past the wooded drop off spot.

oh I see you mean that gazebo type buiding that the college calls a veranda. no that isnt the terrace I am talking about. The terrace that I am talking about is part of the main building, in the back of the atrium. The atrium was the room you saw with the grand piano and trophy like case showing pictures of the faculty and what CCC looked like when it was a hotel many years ago. The atrium and the terrace isnt far from the bathrooms just a few feet, 5 at the most, down the hallway.

Yup my R key and my F3 key caps on my key board came completely off the keyboard when I dropped my keyboard. They are not attached anymore so when I type with those keys now sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. Got to take my keyboard in to the computer repair shop and see if they can fix them.

LOL....I think we're talking about the same thing...just different perceptions I guess. I call it the main road, as it is the main road that leads up to the college.

Driveway....main road....veranda....terrace....atrium...whatever!!

I decided to stay here on the West Coast, as I have more family here, and the Universities here in Oregon have great Social Work programs. Also looked at UC Berkley, but don't really want to make a major move.
