My wife and I just sat down with the kids to tell them that we’re officially getting divorce earlier this month (awful timing given the holidays). We were all together on christmas because we thought it might make things easier but I’m not sure if that was the right decision.

A few days ago, my son (the older sibling) sent me and email and attached was a song he made for me. He wrote it from the perspective of a father losing custody and while it’s not perfectly autobiographical it really hit home. It made me cry right away. He put it up on youtube because I told that other folks going through what we’ve been going through need to hear this. I’m posting this here so that you all might take a listen. It really touched me and I hope that it will do the same for you.

You can find it by searching NICOLAS - Your Father's Lullaby. Please share your (positive) comments!

Hello james: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

I searched YouTube for your son's song but did not find it. I did not search the internet as a whole though. I'm extremely cautious about where I go on the internet. However I wish you & your family all the best as you struggle to come to terms with this most difficult decision.

I don't know, of course if you're just here to share your son's song, or if you plan to stay on here on PC. However, should you plan to hang in here with us, may I suggest you introduce yourself over on PC's New Member Introductions forum? Here's a link:

There's a lot of support that can be available here on PC. The more you post, & reply to other members' posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are the chat rooms where you'll be able to interact with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) So please keep posting!

Thanks for this!
