Whenever I get really stressed out I seem to just binge eat. I feel horrible and I am so full right now, I am uncomfortable. I wish I could purge but my family is here and I cannot. I know purging is bad but I just feel so awful. I feel like I have let myself go and today my boyfriend told me again that I am gaining weight and it doesn't look good. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as how to not binge when stressed? Food has always been a big part of how I express my emotions (never really had real emotional support from anyone in my life) so I either eat too much or eat too little. I don't know what to do and I feel lost. How do I stop binging?? Please PM me if you read my post, I don't always get on here to check for the replies.

Why would you date a guy who is telling you that you are gaining weight and that it is not looking good. That's absolutely horrible and will not help with your recovery. That statement upset me the most because that has happened to me in plenty of relationships and I had to "man up" and breakup with him because he was putting to much stress on my eating behaviors. Maybe this is why you are binging in the first place. Stressed trying to please his idea of what a good body image is. There is no sure fire way to stop binging but you can find the reasons that cause you to binge and lower those so you binge less often. Best of luck!

Personally, your boyfriends comment sounds really insensitive to me.

But I understand the overeating to deal with emotions.

Do you have a therapist or someone? Working with a therapist or in a counselling group is a good way to learn how to cope with emotions so you don't binge.
