I haven't been eating, and I saw my dietician today. I think she was trying to scare me into eating, because we discussed the effects of malnutrition on the body and heart failure in great detail. She told me that I'm at severe risk of heart failure the way I'm going right now and she's concerned I could die. I have a difficult time believing this because I'm at an average weight, I'm not too thin, I haven't hit my goal, and I don't see how my heart could fail in a months time. To me it seems more likely that after I get to my goal and have been restricting for awhile that might be a possiblity, but not at a normal weight status. Honestly I think I may need to quit seeing her. Shhe had me schedule another appointment in 2 weeks because she's concerned and wants to be sure I'm safe. She is also having me email her every day to let her know how I am. Is this an overreaction on her part? Or am I blind to the possibility? I am a healthy 24 year old. I work out daily. I just don't see the real risk, at least not yet.

Heart failure in ED is due to severe lack of vitamins and minerals, the chemicals that are literally what move the muscle fibers in the heart. Has little to do with actual weight and instead has to do with a lack of nutrients feeding the cardiac muscles.
Thanks for this!

Sorry things are a bit tough at the moment...
Your dietitian's job is to make sure you eat healthily and REMAIN at a safe weight. Just because you are at an average weight now doesn't mean you will still be if you carry on not eating. I don't know her so I can't really judge, but I suspect she is just trying to take care of you and nurture you. Try to embrace it (believe me, I know this can be hard!)
