Hello there! I'm 17 years old and almost a year ago I was diagnosed with AN. My parents decided to treat me with the Maudsley Method. In case you're not familiar there are three phases:
1. Parents control EVERYTHING. They pick what and when you eat six (yes- SIX) times a day. And you have no choice but to eat everything. The goal here is weight restoration- putting you back on your growth curve (so basically, your highest weight ever or higher) This is often called "refeeding"

2. Some weight has been gained, control of eating begins to go back to the child. There is a dialogue about food and weight must be maintained

3. Normal adolescent issues. You look past the ED onto other parts of life. But weight must still be maintained

It's used in close conjunction with Family Therapy. There are a lot of online support groups for the parents, but I have yet to find anything out there for the kids. Is anybody there? Also started a group for this.

If you haven't been treated with Maudsley, what do you think of it? Is it a good idea? Or do people need to recover for themselves?
Hugs from:
