I was anorexic at 14 till19.I left home and was cured. After college I returned home and became bulimic.(im a victim of a narcissitic mother, her abuse etc).while being bulimic I had an operation due to my gut. Could this be from forced vomitting. Then a few years later I fell and broke my patella-knee. Im thinking this is a result of poor calcium. I would like your views on if this operations and injuries a result of bulimia??(This is my secret as no one knows about this.Im now cured and no longer bulimic as I have ceased contatct with my abuser. ) Im on a long journey of recovery and Im 75% there. Thanks for your time

Only a doctor could tell you for sure. However, it is absolutely possible that these problems are a result of your ed. Repeated vomiting does lots of damage to your digestive system, and lack of nutrients can certainly lead to loss of bone density.
I like to be secretive too, and am very selective in mentioning any ed problems. However, if you are concerned about your health, it would be really great if you could disclose this information to your doctor(s.) Medical personnel can treat your health problems more effectively when they have all the relevant information.
I am glad to hear you are doing better now.

Studies have shown that the initial causes of ED's are abuse we've gone through..........so very glad that now that you are away from your abuser you are able to control your ED issues & actions.

Bulimia has an effect on the esophagus....& I'm sure it has to do with gut issues also....anytime we throw up often like with bulimia, it can have a serious negative effect.....you might ask your Dr is something like that could come from bulimia.....it's sometimes hard to have the proof of the correlation.....but it's definitely possible.

As for the patella breaking. I know that anorexia can definitely have an issue with bone density. I have been lucky because even at my age of 59 & my anorexia issues started at the age of 43 & again at 52, it hasn't messed up my bone density with osteoporosis. However, I have fractured my hip & back with falls off horses....but think those fractures would have happened no matter whether I dealt with anorexia or not.

Most of the time with breaks, it the angle of the fall that causes the problem. They do have bone density tests that you can have just to make sure on that.

Sorry for all your struggles, but glad that you are able to have the necessary control over your ED & staying away from your abuser.....much congratulations on that.

I don't think we ever get cured. Thinking we just go into remission. It's always a creeper to come back. Hope your feeling better..
