My therapist just introduced this concept to me and we just started it last week. I don't know much about it and have googled it but don't fully understand. Does anyone do this with their therapist? I found last week extremely difficult and know that its good that its hard because im trying to be as real as possible but will it always be so hard? Thanks

I don't know anything about it so I googled it and got this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dialect...havior_therapy (I know, not the most trustworth source.) It looks interesting. |

I have just started DBT with my trauma T and am also in a skills group (it is required where I go for T to be in both a group and individual). I have found that I like it and am already and have been using some of the skills and didn't know that is what it was. As with learning any new thing, this is going to be hard til you get the concept being taught. Never be afraid to tell your t that you don't understand something.
DBT is a great treatment for people with BPD. The first thing you should learn is Mindfulness. Have you learned about Reasonable Mind, Emotional Mind, and Wise Mind? Also are you filling out diary cards for each week? You might want to search the BPD forum to see if there are any threads on there about DBT. I know that there is a social group for DBT, so you might want to try there too. I hope this helps a bit. ![]() ![]() ![]()
