I've been overweight for years now. In 2010 I got a Lap Band. I've lost a lot of weight with it but I cannot reach my final goal because of my habits.

I can diet and do fine for several days or weeks and then I fall off. When I fall off I feel the need to binge constantly. Granted with my Lap Band I cannot hold much food but if I wait 30-45 minutes between binges then I can just binge again no problem. Even my husband pointed out that when I start eating something I can't stop until it's gone. There is no portion control.

I don't starve myself or throw up so I'm assuming I have binge eating disorder?

Any advice for me? I've been like this for years. I even eat when I'm not hungry. I have gained 10 pounds in the past 6 weeks from binging

How do I stop this crazy cycle?

Are you seeing a T, spoiltmom?

Is the problem merely with portion control or is it also food choice selection? A lot of us make poor choices on what we'll snack on in the first place. Then, adding difficulty regulating portions, we've got a problem.

I'd advise you to go through your refrigerator and cupboards and get rid of all the unhealthy snack foods. Replace them with rice cakes, air popcorn popper & popcorn, fresh fruit, vegetables, lean meats, whole grain cereals and bread, yogurt, popsicles, ...

Whenever the urge to munch does strike, you can chow down on celery and carrot sticks. Or have an apple and some popcorn. Just get used to the idea of not adding salt & butter or caramel. It isn't an easy adjustment to make, but it is a lot easier when you don't buy these temptations to begin with. So, get tough ~ you can do it!

Big hugs to you!! Go spoiltmom go!!

I am not currently seeing a therapist. My problem is not just portion control its also in the choices I make to start with. In the past 6 weeks I have binged on candy, cookies, fudge, regular sugary sodas, cakes, etc. it's always something super salty or super sweet, mostly super sweet.
