I'm going on vacation with my friends and I'm incredibly anxious about my behaviour there.
I've been having an ed for the past 4-5 years and now I'm having both bulima and anorexia, depending on my mood and day.

I don't want to be forced to eat and I don't want to binge and purge either, while with them. This will be kinda difficult though, because my friends have linked having fun to eating like there's no tomorrow...

However, I've told them I'm having an ed, but I was too ashamed to admit I b/p as well, so they just know about the anorexia. They are really supportive, but I'd hate to spoil the fun for them.

I really don't know what to do. Has anyone been in my place? How did you handle it?

You just need to ask your friends up front for whatever would be most helpful. If that means saying something like: it would help me the most if you refrain from commenting in what or how much I am eating. I promise I will do my best, even though it may not look like it to you. - that would be okay. On the other hand, if you want your friends to help hold you accountable, its okay to ask for that too. Just ensure you don't make them responsible, what you eat or don't eat is up to you.
I hope you have a really wonderful vacation!!

All my friends love to eat...I go along but I eat what & the amount I'm comfortable eating & that's what you can do also.....they won't even be paying attention to you I wouldn't think.....they will be thinking about the vacation & enjoying themselves....which is exactly what you need to be doing also......I'm sure it won't turn out to be the worry you are anticipating it to be.

If you are like me.....I always anticipate things to be worse than they really end up being

If you have a safety list use that to find foods you can eat. You can always say you have morning sicknesses if you purge.

That just brought back a memory from after I graduated with my degree & had my first career position. I had already had our daughter & knew that I would never get pregnant again....but I was constantly feeling sick just before lunch time.....turned out my dear sweet mother thought I really needed vitamines to keep up my crazy paced life.....for some reason, those vitamines made me sick....just like morning sickness only worse because I never had morning sickness when I was pregnant...lol.

I know you will find a reasonable way to get through this....maybe you will find that with being active & enjoying your vacation you won't feel the need to B/P because you may be away from the stresser that's causing you to do that in the first place.
