I read an article in star magazine and it said that all the celebrities are using this drug for quick weight loss. I think it is something they give horses. Has anyone heard of this or tried it?

Clenbuterol (for animals)
Background - June 1995

Clenbuterol is a growth-promoting drug in the beta-agonist class of compounds. Its illegal use in show animals is linked to its ability to induce weight gain and a greater proportion of muscle to fat. It is not licensed for any use in the United States, but some countries have approved it for use in animals not used for food, and a few countries have approved it for therapeutic uses in food producing animals. The dosages needed for therapeutic purposes are much lower than those required to increase muscle mass. Clenbuterol may be available in the United States through chemical supply houses for laboratory use and the so-called "black market. When used illegally, it is added to animal feed. Banned by the FDA

Clenbuterol Hydrochloride (for people)
Generic Name - Spiropent

Clenbuterol is a popular - but banned - drug used by athletes in body-building, power-related, and even endurance sports. The chemical is attractive to athletes because it appears to have an anabolic effect on human muscles, and it may also increase fat metabolism. However, the actual effects of long-term clenbuterol intake on performance, muscle power, and overall health have been unclear.

Clenbuterol is an Asthma medication which is catabolic to fat and anabolic to muscle. Clenbuterol is usually used to cut body fat prior to a show, however more & more this drug is being used as a dietary aid, not just by bodybuilders, but your average Joe or Josephine.
Side Effects are common and can include nervousness, tremors of the hands, headaches and insomnia. The anabolic effect of clenbuterol only becomes apparent after approximately four months when gains will effect the muscle fibres, which make up about 8 % of your skeletal muscle tissue. Clenbuterol is medically used throughout many parts of the world as a broncodilator for the treatment of asthma, is a recent and popular addition to the realm of athletics. Clenbuterol is a beta-2 agonist, with properties somewhat similar to adrenaline. It acts as a CNS stimulant and users quite commonly report side effects such as shaky hands, insomnia, sweating, increased blood pressure and nausea. Athletes find clenbuterol attractive for it's pronounced thermogenic effects on the body as well as mild anabolic properties.

Banned by the FDA with in the United States - but used over seas.
