I recently restarted a steroidal treatment for my autoimmune disease, and last night I binged. And binged /endlessly/. I am anorexic, I am use to restricting, not doing this. I don't even know how to feel. Confused is the first emotion. The medication increases appetite but I didn't know it would be like that. I am terrified.

Yes, steroidal treatment does increase the appetite. It's different for everyone on how much it increases it. Stay calm. You will go back to normal after you finish the treatment. Hold on, you'll be okay.

That does sound very scary of course, for someone who has been ano for so long. Do you think it would be important to give your counselor a call and say you need to talk and work on these feelings? It sounds like it might be pretty important to not be alone with them. To talk about the fears. And maybe work on a stratagy so you can manage it all?

Yes, I second Gayleggg, stay calm. And perhaps talk to you're doctor about it. Also, be careful. I saw a horrible episode once of1000 ways to die and this bulimic model ate so much that her stomach ruptured before she could purge it up. Anyway, sorry for the gory visual, but that was actually a worry that came to mind when I Was reading your post. Stay well.

Thank you all. It appears to have been a one time episode, and thank god. I called my RA doctor right away and saw my therapist a few days after. Their main concern was that I have purged, which I didn't, because it could have thrown the medications all off which would have been bad.

I am on a treatment where the dosage lowers every week and a few days. I went from 30mgs, to 20mgs, now I am on 15mgs. And feeling a whole lot better in general.
