Before I start, I should say that majority of my family is overweight, save for me and one of my older brothers (drugs, malnourished, you get the picture).

Just now, my little brother has put up a status on Facebook, and somehow the comments have turned into a convo of Megan Fox underwear pictures. At the very end, someone's posted a photoshopped photo of an obese woman in a bathing suit, obviously meant to a joke. My eldest brother has then commented and said, ".. tap the skinny ones and give the fat ones a miss."

Does that not infuriate anyone else? "Fat" is not synonymous with "ugly", "disgusting", "unattractive" or "unlovable".

Perhaps your brother doesn't realize how insensitive he's being or that it offends you. Have you said anything about this to him yet? If not, you should tell him that hey, it's not OK to make fun of heavy women as not everyone can look like Megan Fox.

It's disgusting to how it's OK to call a woman fat to their face and make fun of them. I've had more than a few nasty men make mean comments about my weight in public who were complete strangers. I've also had women ask me if I was pregnant and I have also gotten numerous looks to where both men and women have looked at my feet and then my head with a judgemental look on their face. Even with people that I know. Ugh! WTH? That is so rude!

This is why I used to have an eating disorder and why I'll NEVER ever like how I look. People's expectations of how women should look are very unrealistic. Most of us will never be a size 0 or 2 no matter how hard we diet and exercise. It's funny to how men aren't held to the same extreme standards and judgement from other men and women usually.

You need to tell your brother to stop doing this and that it encourages rude behavior and eating disorders. Most people know that they're fat. They don't need to feel worse about themselves than they probably already do.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
