This was in my last post, but it is so dire to me that I am compelled to ask again.
Please let me know if anyone has experienced this because I am a singer (1st soprano) and I have been purging for a year or two and JUST now MAYBE am noticing a change...it could be in my head though...? bree |

I took voice lessons from a teacher who spent 15 years on Broadway...Music was my life.
There are a lot of other things that are my life now...like the military but my voice will always be (other than the eating disorder) what is mine. It's like a game for me. I know that my body is starting to be affected by the purging when my voice isn't well. I sing often and play the guitar so I know when I am not well. When my voice cracks I know I have to stop purging so much. Sometimes I have control over this, sometimes I don't. There are good days and bad days. So to answer your question, yes your voice is definitely affected by purging. ~Sailaway |

That Katherine girl from "American Idol" was bulimic and I remember her openly saying, "[Bulimia] was like taking a sledgehammer to your vocal cords." For me personally, my four years of self-induced vomiting has made talking more difficult and I don't sing like I used to. My throat always feels sore and scratchy, which is why I avoid talking altogether.
