I'm not sure. I think I do.. But I don't know what it is. My story is that in August I began binge-eating, but I wouldn't consider it binge-eating because I would eat a certain amount of calories in one sitting when binge-eating is (supposedly) normally more calories than I ate.

Then in late October, I started to purge by vomiting and laxatives. And since last week I have been restricting my diet to a low amount of calories. I have stopped purging now and instead exercise at least once a day.

I know this sounds like an eating disorder, but I have no idea what it could be. And I am scared because I don't know how this started. I don't know how I got this mentality. I don't know why I am obsessed with my weight all of a sudden.

((((FloridaKilos))))

To get a definitive diagnosis, better to address with a doctor.

Could be, but treatment is more important than second guessing using the internet.

disordered eating & eating disorder are not the same....but disordered eating can turn into an ED......so it's best to get professional help....sounds like you need some help understanding WHY you are behaving in this way & only a professional can help......

Most ED's have a much deeper issue underlying them than just wanting to be thin & loose weight & if those things aren't addressed, the ED can never be resolved, only managed.

Definitely talk with a specialist.....I don't always suggest ED specialists because some of them only think on body image issues as being involved....someone who can handle deeper issues is usually more helpful but some ED specialists aren't so superficial,,,,,,helps to look for one who will give you the help you need even if you are only doing the disordered eating thing.

FloridaKilos, you might have an ED.

I suggest that you get your GP to refer you to a mental health professional (clinical psychologist or psychiatrist) who has experience of working with clients with EDs. S/he will be able to assess you and (if indicated) work with you in a productive way.

Also, getting a referral to a professional dietitian is an idea which is worth considering. A dietitian will be able to give you advice about healthy eating, maybe (depending on the results of your assessment from a mental health professional), in collaboration with him/her.
