So I'm paranoid about getting diabetes and heart disease. I already have high bp.
I've been overweight all my life. When I was a childmy doctor would harp on my dad to feed us me better because he was putting me at a higher risk of health problems. Back in high school I would restrict a lot a couple days a week because I've always been afraid of health problems. Here I'm in college now and I would rather starve than eat 'unhealthy' foods. And the issue is that I consider everything unhealthy. Every few foods are 'safe'. I feel like food is just trying to kill me. A couple years ago I was diagnosed with high bp. After this I started restricting to the point I became sick. Thanks for the help ![]() |

Hi Ad Intra
I am sorry that food has become such a dilemma for you. You say some really good stuff here about not wanting to be unhealthy. That is commendable. I agree that a lot of food available is unhealthy. You don't need to starve yourself, though. I am not much of a cook and I found that eating oatmeal in the morning keeps me full a long time. I drink a home made fruit protein smoothie for lunch and it has been a great way to take off pounds and keep healthy. I eat fish or grilled chicken and vegetables for dinner. This regimen is also very cheap. As far as your question, I imagine yes but your intention sounds pretty sound. I hope this helps in some way. I wish you the best in health and in your studies. |

Ad Intra, sorry to hear you are having anxiety about your body. Congrats on eating good foods.
Foods don't do the harm. Sometimes genetics means someone needs medicines. If not tested for lowering agents for blood pressure, you could bring up with doctor. Here are some articles on PC that may be of interest Psych Central - Search results for Causes of high blood pressure
