I have issues with eating with the fear of gaining wait. I am supposedly underwieght already but I have a fat belly and fat thighs. Sometimes I avoid eating because of it

Lockandkey04, I am sorry you are struggling with eating disorder (ED). Oftentimes a therapist specializing in ED will be helpful.

If you are looking for self help methods these are some that have helped me.
I have to watch what I eat because foods I eat can stabilize my moods or exaggerate them. A high protein low carb diet with snacks or meals every 3-4 hours will over time reduce my swings. I also avoid alcohol and recreational drugs because those can really increase depression.

Other lifestyle changes that help me are doing yoga, exercises, mindfulness, calm music, and being active on Psych Central.

There are also articles that might be helpful.

Hello and welcome to Psych Central Lockandkey!!! It's nice to meet you. You have joined a community of warm and caring members who will want to offer you support and advice. Yours is welcome as well.

Please feel free to contact any community liaison or moderator by left clicking on their name in blue to the left of their post if you need help navigating the forums. It will take some time for your first five posts to appear as they are being evaluated and then you will be able to join chats.

I'm sorry to hear you're having negative thoughts about the way you look. I hope as you continue to reach out, others here will be able to tell you how they've overcome dysmorphic/perceived flaws/distorted views of how they really look. This type of thinking is not uncommon for those with social anxiety phobia. Therapy if you're not already receiving it can be very helpful in developing healthy views of oneself.

You'll find we have a safe and supportive community. I'm glad you've joined us.

I look forward to seeing you around!!!

Hello dear LockandKey and a big warm WELCOME to psych central and all of the great supportive things it had to offer. We're a nice friendly community and given time you'll make some friends with the same issues as yourself (I have an eating disorder too). Feel free to check out all of the different forums, there's one especially for eating disorders so that'll be very helpful to you. Hugs. Xxx
