Hello Darkrose. Well, on and off I've been doing this for over 30 years and strangly, in my somewhat deranged distorted thinking that goes with my multi~eating disorders, I don't see this as a form of self harm BUT .................... obviously it is. My reason for doubt on my part is because I inflict other physical forms of self harm which may appear more shocking to what I term as ''normal'' people. However, ''normal'' people find bulimia (vomiting back food delibratelty and immediately after eating) shocking too! It doesn't matter whether it's your thinking it's self harm or not, it's reasons why you're being driven to do this. Do you know why? Plus what happens if you don't follow up on your sometimes desire to get the food back out again? It's not about what I think or other people think, how do YOU feel about this pressing urge to vomit? Please feel free to contact me, I'm sure there's more behind your question then appears hunny. Maybe to work on stopping this potentially very dangerous addiction before it tries to take over your life, which is a strong ''could be'' issue. Take care now.

I've been told bulimia is an action of self-harm but I would agree with waggiedog (hello back from S/E London btw! ) and I was nearly diagnosed with BPD because my bulimia was seen as solely a form of self harm, for me at least I think there is far more to it than this, I think I may have found a use for it in wanting to cause myself harm but it was never the sole reason, it was always another reason to add to a list and which if it wasn't there, would not prevent me from being bulimic so as much as I can say it can be a form of self harm, it's a by-product of rather than being the reason for.

And also to echo the above; your ED is what it is to you, not to how someone else see's it. Only you will know how things work as vividly and as intricately as you do, no one else can get that same understanding. Hence it's out role to explain to others who try to offer help and support if you want them to help and support you.
