I see a psychiatrist for medications for depression; a therapist for talk therapy; and a registered dietitian for nutrional counseling. I am also looking for a local support group, which is harder to find -- seems there are a few programs around here for adults, but I'm not sick enough for some, too sick for others, and still others would require me to get ALL my treatment from them. I like my team, and don't want to change anyone.

The RD is actually much more helpful than I had expected. I actually know a fair amount about nutrition, so I thought I wouldn't need that sort of thing. Then I thought she would just give me a list of how many of what sorts of foods to eat at each meal, and that would be it. Nope. She is educating me about AN, showing me things that explain some of my symptoms during recovery, and setting very loose goals that never seem out of reach. If anyone here is ready to recover, and hasn't seen an RD, I highly recommend it.

The goals are never specific enough to feel confining, but always clear enough to make it easy. Kinda. I'm still having a lot of trouble meeting them, and not managing almost as often as I do. Plus, since I was gaining steadily if slowly, I got scared and managed to lose some this week. But still...

So, how about everyone else? How many on your treatment team?

WHOOPS!!! I forgot the most integral member of my team! I've also got a physicist on it. That's right, a particle physicist. Gotta have one of those. Don't know why, but he assures me he's an integral part of the treatment team...

What are you being treated for? If it's mostly a mood disorder, with some eating related stuff, that might be part of it. And, if I were not so med phobic at this point, and so difficult to medicate for depression, I might get ADs from a GP, and just do therapy. Right now, though, I was way far underweight, and couldn't gain on my own.

Any eating disorder? I forget what you've posted here. Cognition difficulties from either meds or starvation...

Have you looked into support groups? There are a few sites, like edreferral.com or anad.org, or somethingfishy.net, that have links to support groups in most areas. At least that would help a bit.

Good luck.

Genevieve,

I'm pretty much like you. I see a great dietitian (I just had to have luch out at a restaurant with her! AHHH!), a psychiatrist for meds for depression, therapist for talking, oh and a neurologist which I see for a seizure disorder that I have that was caused by my ED (Anorexia). I like my treatment team too. I used to have a *slightly* different team, and I fought them so badly, but then I was sent into treatment and now it's a different story. I guess I got my "brain" back along with the weight.

I see my therapist once a week, my dietitian once every two weeks, and my gp once every three months or so. The neurologist is new and I have only seen him a couple of times. How often do you guys see your team people?

Let's see, my T I see once or twice a week, the RD once a week (just starting that part of the process), the psychiatrist every three to six weeks depending on how much tweaking we have to do, and I'm also going to a support group that meets every other week. (I'm looking for a closer support group, though, and will try another next week.)

Thankfully, no seizures or anything from me, but I've got some other problems that are being checked out by my new OB/GYN, including what I suspect is gonna show up as fairly significant bone loss -- I've gotten over an inch shorter. He's also checking me out for fertility, to see if my husband and I can have one more chance at kids.

And I had a very different treatment picture a few months ago. This one is much more helpful...

Yes, I'm 27 and I have Osteoporosis What kinds of treatments are we all receiving? My doc also told me I'd have trouble having kids. You're lucky you're married! I can't even get a boyfriend, except for when I am sickly thin What kinds of treatments are we all receiving?

Are you being treated for osteoporosis? That's something that frightens me right now, and I'd love to hear what your experience with it is. As for fertility, it might look as though I"m still ovulating, but I won't see the doctor again for a while. My period has certainly changed, though, already. It's never stopped entirely, but it went down to about a day's worth of light flow. (I know, more than you wanted to know) Now it's longer and heavier, which is kinda freaking me out .

As for being married, I was 35 when we met, and it was after a lot of jerks in my life. And one wonderful man who wasn't right for me, whom I stayed with for almost a decade. If you find that men are only interested in your when you're sickly thin, then you might want to rethink what you look for in men. I'm saying that as someone who looked for all the wrong things for a long time. My husband looks wonderful to me now, but that's because I know him. When we met, I was drawn to his mind and his personality -- not his looks. I was also a bit put off by some of his social skills. Lack, that is. But while some of it is still irritating at times, he's my [pet name deleted] and I'll keep him.

For what it's worth, he and I first met online, though match.com, and that worked much better for me. Men would get to know me a bit through my writing, before they saw me. I present myself differently in real life, and it hadn't been good for me in dating. Emailing back and forth for a while before meeting face to face was great. Met some other kewl guys that way, too.

Anyway, how long have you been getting treatment, and how do you stay motivated? Do you run into trouble when you get stressed? Backsliding trouble, I mean?

Sorry that I took so long to answer! I am currently taking Fosamax for the Osteoporosis, and am *supposed* to be getting I think 1200 mg calcium through calcium supplements. I like those Viactiv soft chews, but I sometimes forget to take them. Other than that, I don't know that there's anything that I can do What kinds of treatments are we all receiving?

You met your husband online? My twin sister did too! She met him on ICQ I think (kinda like AIM if you don't know what I'm talking about). They were married in May, and they're going to have a baby in July! What kinds of treatments are we all receiving?
