That’s a great achievement to jog a mile! Especially in the heat and humidity you’re dealing with.

Yeah not getting any younger here either, but I’m a bit older than you and sure we can keep going!

If you don't mind my asking, how old are you?

I did week 6 day 1 today which was a 5 min. warmup walk, 10 min run, 5 min walk, 10 min run, 5 min. cooldown walk. The program def. gives you a good workout, 35 min. total and 20 min. of that running (well, jogging in my case). I walked home and had to go the long route b/c of construction on my road, so I went a total of 4.5 miles today.

I got a message today on 10K runner that my next run is going to be optimized for me to 2 10 min runs with a 3 min walk between instead of the 2 12 min. runs the program initially had. It's good that it optimizes for me b/c that 2nd 10 min. run today was a struggle for me!

Oh that sounds so useful that your app can optimise the run for you, I hadn’t realised that was possible.

Of course you can ask my age, I’m 52 and didn’t start running until I was 40 years old. As a youngster I always thought (told myself/was told) I was bad at all sports and running. Wrong. I just couldn’t do sprinting, I could do longer distance I found - did several half marathons in my 40s. Saying all this not to brag but to give you encouragement. 40s are a great time to focus on fitness and health, once our families are a little bit more grown.

I've had a can of Pepsi, some pumpkin coffee, half a pretzel from Sonic, and a rice cake. I'm at 792 calories, 148 carbs, and 29 grams of protein.

I started some OTC metabolism gummy. Its a good brand and I'm having luck with the 2 other kinds I'm using. But idk.

It's awesome that you started running in your 40s and inspiring that you ran half marathons then too. I am the same with not being able to do sprinting or even fast running times but I can work up to longer distances. In my 30s, I got to the point where I could have run half marathons but stopped a lot of the jogging after I had a fall running and ended up with microfractures in my hips. That is an injury I wouldn't wish on anybody. I had a ton of pain, and the fractures didn't show up on initial imaging so while I was begging for painkillers, all the providers kept thinking I was drug-seeking and wouldn't prescribe me anything for pain. Several months later, my rheumatologist believed me and sent me for another X-ray; this time the microfractures showed up vividly. I was sent for MRIs and finally believed and prescribed painkillers at the point at which I was finally starting to heal and hurting much less. That made me shy off running for a long time, so I started walking instead.

Then, I developed bad peripheral neuropathy in my feet, and I had to stop even walking for exercise and switched to pilates. But then this May, I was put back on Cymbalta, and the tingling associated with the peripheral neuropathy went away completely within a month and later I was put back on lamotrogine and the cramping in my feet associated with the PN went away, and I started walking again for exercise and then decided to start the 10K runner program which I'd used in the past. I still have numbness in my feet associated with the PN, but I can live with the numbness; the numbness is much less bothersome than the tingling & cramping were. And the numbness is not that severe.

I do feel proud that I have worked up from having difficulty with 1 min intervals to being able to run 10 min. intervals even if it is a challenge for me right now. I definitely feel my fitness has improved quite a lot doing this program.

I walked/jogged again today. Again I was able to jog a mile straight I remember I couldn't even run a mile for a fitness test in high school though there were times in my 30s I could run 11 miles straight. I doubt I'll ever get to that point again but if I can get to 5K I'll be happy.

I've had some bear creek soup, hearts of palm lasagna, and a small salad kit, to eat. Then some iced coffee. I'm at 1,585 calories for the day which isn't too bad considering the quality. My sodium intake is pretty bad though

I've had two 16.9oz bottles of water and I'm drinking an oranges and cream Bubly sparkling water right now.

I did my optimized extra 6 week run on 10K runner today which was a 10 min. run, 3 min walk, 10 min. run and of course 5 min. warmup and cooldown. Still was a struggle for the 2nd 10 min. run, but I did accomplish it My next long run is 12 min., hopefully I can do it considering I have actually managed to jog a mile recently. With the walk home, I covered 4.4 miles today.

For breakfast I had half a lime Pepsi, 20oz of pumpkin spice cold brew with some whipped cream, and an Oikos triple zero vanilla Greek yogurt
Lunch was a lemon tart Oikos yogurt, and a bag of Green Giant veggie stir fry

I'm at 880 calories, 115 carbs, and 45 grams of protein. My sodium is a lot better then yesterday. I'm on my second bottle of water

I'm trying to get up the energy to walk on my treadmill. I dragged it out from under my bed.

I did 15 minutes on the treadmill while watching TV then I threw up lunch. I guess thats one way.

Today I walked/jogged for 4.9 miles. Now it looks like they are going to do construction on both ends of my street. WTH? How are we supposed to drive out of here? Luckily, I could run through the construction cones as they haven't started work on the other end of the street, just blocked it off with cones.

I think you are right in saying it's easier to keep going for a longer run than having interval runs. Today, I ran a long distance of 1.5 miles straight So hopefully, I will be able to handle the 12 min. long run on my next day of my running program.

I slept badly so I took my meds late and didn't fall back asleep. Which can often be kinda bad. I've had 1,180 calories, 162 carbs, and 59 grams of protein. My sodium is fine at 1,670mg. Idk if I'll use my treadmill today or just count on CICO. I did a lot of chores this morning and I'm tired as **** from lack of sleep and meds.

I might have some Lucky Charms for dinner

I've lost about 5 pounds these last couple days. Idk if its the gummies or the treadmill or eating less or all 3. I haven't felt the greatest either. I haven't left my house since Sunday.

Have you seen those scales that estimate what pct of your weight is muscle and bone vs fat vs water? That might be helpful for you, as you say sometimes your pants dont fit cuz you are bloated? I may get one if i ever get my fat pct down to a normal range.

Bad news about the construction blueberry, things like that can be a pain when trying to plot routes. They were digging up around me earlier this year too which contributed to me giving up running (not the only reason). Hope you find a way around the obstacles.

Glad you’re finding the longer stretches of running okay, sounds like you’re naturally suited to distance too

I had to run one of my couch to 5k sessions just with my watch because my AirPods ran out of charge and so because I’m a touch obsessive I still ran the run I ‘missed’ on the app today,, I *need* to complete them all. So one more 28 run and then I’ll be onto the final week.

I’m thinking about getting back to the pool once the schools go back, although going to have to see how things go with the family and my time.

With all this running, I've lost about 6 lb. I don't really need to lose weight, just shape up, but my weight is still 121 lb. which is normal for my height, so I'm good there. I am so happy my abs are shaping up and I'm finally losing those persistent love handles. I have noticed my boobs have shrunk, which is the one place I def. do not want to lose weight, but what can you do?

Today, the 10K runner was 5 min. warmup and cooldown with the long run 12 min. and then a 3 min. walk, 8 min. run. So it's still sticking to 20 min. total running, just the longer intervals are longer. The next long run is 15 min. and I'm really hoping I manage that okay. Then, I walked/jogged home for a total distance of 4.5 miles.

I finished week 6 day 3 on 10K runner today. This time it was the 5 minute warmup & cooldown with a 15 min. long run, 3 min. walk, and 5 min. run. I can't believe it but I made the 15 min. run and so ran just over a mile at my slow jogging speed. My next long run is 18 min., not sure how I'll manage that, we'll see.

I probably get overheated every morning out there with the heat & humidity, but I felt it much more than normal today. I can't wait for cooler weather!

Things aren't really working out. I get my meals planned out when I wake up and then I immediatly stray away from them. I'm so thirsty all the time and water doesnt help. I am always too tired to workout and when I do I can only manage 5 minutes. Idk what to do.

Well I’m not able to run this week other than one 28 min on Weds because I’ve been working 12 hour stints redecorating my son’s room while he’s away. That’s physical but not really exercise, I’m aching from moving furniture and being locked in one position too long - respect to the people who do this for a living!

Dewed hope this is okay to say but being too tired to work out and not being able to stick to a meal plan to me indicates your intake isn’t sufficient.
