Hi,
Quick question - Is extreme stress on its own something that could cause visual hallucinations?
Thanks

Hello tigergirl,

Yes especially if you have not been getting enough sleep as the tired mind will start dreaming while you are awake. If you have ever had psychosis in the past, then stress can bring it on again. Hallucinations can also be part of PTSD, so if you have had trauma in the past it can come up as an hallucination. There are other causes of hallucinations such as drugs or alcohol.
