I don't have a therapist .i have a case manager. shes trained in therapy but it's not the same.i was wondering what is okay to talk about with her like i want to for example discuss wether my conversion disorder is possibly linked to me dissiciating but i wonder if this is okay to talk about given shes not experienced or would it be best if i just go to my psychiatrist all together for my questions.

a case manager helps you to get the services that you need and co ordinates those services so that everyone working with you is in the same page. when you were assigned a case manager you should have gotten intake papers that tell you what your case manager does...

example a case manager for someone who has a medical condition that case manager talks with the person to find out what their medical problem is and helps them get set up with the right medical doctors and specialists needed to take care of those medical problems.

a mental health case manager talks with the person who has a mental problem, finds out what their needs are to take care of that mental issue and then helps them to get into what ever treatment options are needed ie therapy, meds or other treatment plans.

my suggestion is to be honest and talk with your case manager about any and all problems that are affecting you so that they can help you get the right services and treatment plans that you may need. example if you feel depression is a problem for you tell them, if you feel dissociation is your problem tell them, if you feel you have a conversion problem then tell them.... in other words share what ever you feel is your problems so that they can get you into the right treatment program for you,

Yes, just be honest and give yourself the freedom to open up. Be honest. Tell her you're not sure how this whole thing works.

My case manager, maybe not the most tactful person that I know (she's a racist - we're both white and she uses the buzz words and phrases that white people use when talking about blacks), but she was trained as a psychiatric nurse so I, sort of, trust her more than my real therapist.

Honestly, I'm so far at the end of my rope that I'd discuss my issues with the UPS guy. I don't know what type of program you're on but I am REALLY CAREFUL about watching what I say, though. If I allowed anyone know the severity of my mental illnesses, I'd be institutionised in a heartbeat. I don't know how I do it. I turn myself off until I feel that it's safe to turn on again?

As others have suggested, ask your case manager what she'd be comfortable with. I feel like I'm playing tricks with everyone but, except for here, I suppose, I have a different personality for everyone. That may be a mental illness in itself. If she lets you know that she'd be okay with a bit of therapy, ask to what degree. You need to know if there's a degree of illness that might get you kicked out of your program.

Best of luck,
