On average, how long does it usually take to find the right medication that works for you? I know its a long process with trial and error. Just wondering?

I have been blessed in that I was first put on Zoloft, became highly suicidal at half the dose, hospitalized for that and then put on Cymbalta in the hospital. I have been on Cymbalta for almost 7yrs now, although varying doses, and am quite happy with it. I don't remember when we added Abilify, however it too is working well. I have been on several anti-anxiety meds due to my building a tolerance to them. At one point, I was on BuSpar 3 times a day and Klonopin twice a day. I am now down to just the Klonopin and once a day. So in answer to your question, it took 3 days to find the right anti-depressant. I hope more people answer your thread so you can see how it differs from person to person.

Hello Sorcerer 666, not a question that we can really answer as everyone is different. Just be really honest about your symptoms to the doctor and then hopefully they can start you on,
near enough the right combination. It can be trial and error though. Remember also that psychotherapy also helps. ![]()
