So you take medicine to make life okay only to possibly cause weight gain which has been a struggle your entire life, which brings you back to where you started.

I almost want to go without medication to see if A. I can do without it and B. If weight loss would be a little easier. I can't be happy if i can't lose weight, especially after losing 40lbs starting Zoloft and gain more than half back (DISCLAIMER: I do not blame it all on the medicine but I became super lazy and unmotivated to exercise, which a few months before the medicine i stopped exercising as much and watching what i ate but when I started the medicine I blew up over a course of 6 months, untill it seems like I stopped taking it and tried different stuff) i know some, if not most is my fault.

I wish i could just stop eating unless i needed to. Its disgusting.
Anyways, has anyone experienced this too? Suggestions? Advice? Just want to talk about it?

Hello, InTheProcess. Alas, some antidepressants are really bad about causing weight gain. And weight gain can make us even more depressed.

This topic distresses me very much.

Hello InTheProcess, I wouldn't recommend coming off the antidepressant. Go back to your doctor and ask if there is a different medication you could try with less side-effects. Also, check out the Psychiatric Medications forum for other peoples experiences, you are not the only one with this issue.

I hear you! I could have written your post. I am working on getting off my anti depressant to see if it will make weight loss easier. I dont really need it anymore anyway, but i do need to lose some weight.

It's so terrible. Unfortunately, I probably still need mine, the ones I am not don't seem to be as effective anymore. The pdoc mentioned I may need them forever. Who knows but it's a struggle and weight only compounds the depression. It's ridiculous. Good luck on your weight loss journey!

I hate some of the meds out there and especially the ones that cause weight gain and even if you are very careful with what you eat and make sure you do regular exercise!! It almost feels like a win lose situation ...even though the meds may help you feel and cope better with things.. they bring with them terrible side effects that just bring you crashing down again!

you are definately not alone!!

Exactly. My whole life I have been trying to lose weight, it NEVER came easy for me. So its practically scary knowing that a pill that is supposed help maybe making it harder. Ugh. But thanks for the input. Take care
