Like if you did the following-

Had sole responsibility for a daycare of a morning for kids under 5.
Supervised a small team and up to 26 children aged between 4-11 years every afternoon.

Would you think the person had a nice and easy job?

No it's not an easy job.

I have worked with children, it is a massive responsibility, children are our future and we make a huge impression on them. You also have the parents expectations. So it is a huge responsibility and usually low paid but extremely rewarding and joyful! (((((( Jenni855 ))))))

Anyhow...I like it ok but its NOT easy!

Not an easy job , Make sure you do background checks on everyone who is working or near children . Do you and your staff know CPR ? You and your staff will be liable of the safety of the children in your care . Make sure you have Insurance , so if you get sued they can't take everything .

No, it is not an easy job, at all. I did the same job, was able to not pay a sitter to watch my kids, as they grew up, but there were sometimes, five kids age two and under all day, and possibly ten more before and after school. I remember a man and his wife across the street, said that my job was so hard. I do remember being nervous a lot, but I also was a really caring person. I still am, but yes, it is hard. No, the person doesn't have an easy job, and yes, I remember a few saying, to me, they wished they had my job. Now that I think of it, instead of listening, I should have said, tell me how, it is easy? Actually, I think I did, and the answer was that I could have a coffee break, anytime, etc, and now that I think of who it was, it was someone that my Dad got a job position for, and he never acknowledged it, and never was anything, but a martyr for everything, so who cares, what he thought.

I don't have children or work with them, but I can't imagine it's easy! Little kids don't yet know the rules of social behavior, they're easily breakable, they yell and cry and run around like crazy and say "no" just to be obstinate and don't really seem to understand logic. I don't know, the couple that I've been around (my friends' children) just seemed like taking care of 1 or 2 would exhaust me. I can't imagine a whole crowd of them!

You're put on a high pedestal by parents and community when you look after kids. Parents can come up with some pretty wild expectations when you look after their kid(s). And childcare is heavily regulated by States, Local govn'ts. If you have the tolerance for kids that's great. You need tolerance for their parents, as well.

No it's not an easy job (and I've never been in charge of as many as that) but it's an amazing job. At least when things go right! One piece of advice, expect the unexpected lol.

I'm also going to say that different people find different jobs different, we all have individual talents and skills, so what seems easy enough for one person may be a nightmare for another.

No it's not an easy job - especially with the PC brigade and health and safety as ludicrous as it is in our country.

Whether or not it's 'nice' comes down to personal opinion. Personally i can't think of anything worse. But i'm not a fan of children - a lot of people aren't. But it's an important job and one that should certainly command respect.

Has someone said something that has made you question your career choice?
Thanks for this!

The parents are half of why it's difficult!

It might be a good and rewarding job but certainly not easy.

It's not easy at all. It's a lot of work. And can be really rewarding if you enjoy it. I work kids. I just babysit two kids for about 8-9 hours. Only twice a week. And some days it's extremely difficult because of my depression.

But with a daycare you might ha be to provide education for the children. And the parents are another thing added to it... They can be very difficult to work with sometimes.

I appreciate all this. Someone at work was boasting about how their job as a fitness instructor was the hardest in the world but that I had it easy in my job and it really got to me.

Oh you know some people just like to think they have it harder than anyone else, whether work wise or in other ways. I've found it's pointless even trying to explain yourself to people like that, and also you don't have to justify anything about yourself to anyone. Let them think what they want, only you know how hard anything about your life is. Just say yeah whatever. Don't let it get to you.
