I have been on remeron and that made me gain 40Ibs in less then 2 months. Then switched to Serquel XR. Still either I gain or cant seem to loose anything.
Is there another way to get the same effect as these?
My problem is falling asleep or staying asleep due to the mind racing or things popping in my head and waking me up or something....

Hi djewell

Good question.

This is not a medical answer just a personal one.

You may have members who come forward who have taken herbal remedies for sleep and Bipolar and had success ....

Yes, unfortunately the Seroquel does come with weight gain - but there are other AP out there with less of a weight gaining side effect. Didn't help me as well as seroquel does for sleep though. I take it at night too.

I'd imagine if there was a herbal substitutes the pharmaceuticals would be out of business.

There are some natural remedies that do aid sleep - I've cert heard of them.

But I wouldn't advise substituting Seroquel for anything without a professional medical opinion.

Take care.
