I've watched a couple of videos on Youtube where people go dumpster diving at Gamestop and get a whole bunch of cool stuff! My only problem is my worry about it. I worry a little about dirt, filth and germs, and my mom told me there's the possibility of me reaching my hand in and getting stuck by a used needle or something, and that needle part scares me. Like, I wanna get cool stuff, but its definitley not worth the risk of getting like HIV or AIDS from it... am I like "mental" for thinking about doing this? I thought it sounded really exciting, but now I'm not so sure... help?

Dumpsters are great for stuff. I don't know why there would be needles in a gamestop dumpster. I can tell you now you probably won't find needles. That's more likely in a hospital dumpster. I like to go dumpster diving. I went to a Staples dumpster and got two leather chairs the other day. Along with the usual hop into the Dollar Tree dumpster for dog food. Got like 6 big bags of dog food.

Do understand that a dumpster (or any garbage bin) is private property and dumpster diving is considered criminal trespassing by law enforcement.

That is one of those sorts of laws I don't agree with...if stuff is being thrown away that someone could use its pretty stupid to mandate that the stuff is destroyed/taken to a landfill rather than going to someone who could use it. I see nothing wrong with it.
