I have struggled with anorexia since the age of 12 and I am currently 17 and 90 pounds. Yet i still feel completely uncomfortable if i wear clothes that are formfitting in even the slightest way. If it feels like clothes are touching my skin too much it feels like they're constricting me and trying to suffocate me and it feels as though they just make me look huge. I was curious if anyone else had this problem and if it was eating disorder related or anxiety related. I also have ptsd, social anxiety, and major depressive disorder could these be contributing to this feeling at all?

I have put on quite a bit of weight over the past few years, and shirts that once fit me very well are pretty tight. I get extremely uncomfortable when I try them on and will not wear them, even if it's just around the house.

Hello EmmieRuth,
Is it the fear (anxiety) of looking fat? You might like to check out our Eating Disorders forum and Anxiety, Panic and Phobias forum. Often times our mental health issues are to do with trauma from the past. It would be good for you to talk to your therapist about how you feel. ![]()
