Is spirituality/belief in God (provided it is progressive and not fundamentalist or cult-like) good or bad for mental health? Thoughts? Opinions?

Spirituality can be good for your mental heath. Religions that are judgemental and controlling can make it worse for you.

The easy answer is that it would all depend on the person.

I am spiritual, without actively associating myself with an organized group or religion at this time. For me spirituality is important.
