My doctor wants to me to get an MRI of my head but besides not being able to pay for it, I really hat them! It is just too cramped. I am no stranger to MRI`s, I have had 11 CT scans, 2 HIDA scans and 4 MRI`s in the past 3 years but they didn`t involve my gourd...... I had one on my head in 2006, and I freaked out. They couldn`t get me out of that thing fast enough, when it was done. My doctor thinks there is something going on up there though because of my stuttering, memory loss and nerve problems that have developed. I am on valium but I don`t think it could calm me down enough. Anybody else dread this kind of MRI???

I had a brain MRI only one time. I was having quite a bit of anxiety at the time, plus I am mildly claustrophobic. I managed to do okay throughout the MRI by taking a music player and earphones in with me and keeping my eyes closed. I really did keep my eyes closed the entire time I was in there.

You can ask your Doctor to have addl medications to help you manage the test, you would just need to have someone with you, they wont add more if your driving yourself.

They are no fun. I have Multiple Sclerosis and I have had several hours of MRIs.

I don't see how anybody could possibly enjoy having an MRI. I personally haven't had one since I was young, but I remember being scared to death of the MRI machine.

Now? If I needed to take an MRI for whatever reason, good luck getting me inside unless I have my smartphone pre loaded with music and a headset with me and even then I would object lol.

I don't care for them. I've had close to a dozen. Spinal taps are even more dreadful.

Certainly mention to the doctor or technician.
