HI, I am currently on odsp. i have looked at the governments thoughts on how much money you can make while living with your parents and don't fully understand all they are saying so I am turning to this forum. I have not lived with my parents for about 15 years now and am about to move back in with them. I plan on paying 550 for rent in thier condo. i will have a room and a little den. plus free run of the place. i pay my own way for my food and what not. i am fully independant. in the rent, hydro, water, everything including cable tv is included. but i own a cell phone. hope to drive a car so i will be paying insurance. i will be spreading my odsp thin. what i would like to know for sure is will i get the full benefits like i was getting when i was not living with them?

They will take dollar for dollar off your odsp cheque when you work. You can live at your parents they will be required to give a signed statement regarding rental agreement. You will receive rx and dental benefits. I was on for 2 years worse thing i ever did. I was living with a relative Whatever you have left they dont care how you spend.

It shouldn't be a problem as long as you provide a lease that states you are renting and providing for yourself. E.g. groceries and bills. If the agreement is room and board you will get less spending money a month, because ODSP assumes groceries are included in the rent.

I wouldn't tell ODSP that you are living with your parents. The less they know, the better. Just tell them what they need to know.
