I was wondering what the proper verbiage would be to explain Domestic violence to children in Elementary and Middle school would be.

I would talk about when one family member hurts and makes another scared. That families that are happy do not have fear in them. If you are afraid or worry about someone else in your family talk to an adult you know. Talk to your teacher or principal.

Does that work?

Middle school seems to me to be awfully late to be talking about this. I am aactually shocked this is only happening now. My children were first told about this back in nursery school. Then a great deal of time was spent in Kindergarten talking about the difference between good relationships and bad ones. We then talked about this at home.
