Hello,
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place or too much info. I've gone to psychiatrists and therapists on and off for the last five years, but either cost or frustration has led to me quitting. Part of the problem is my poor communication with my doctor. At last brush with a doctor, I was diagnosed with agoraphobia/general anxiety disorder and bipolar depression. After hitting a particular low these last months and upsetting my only friend, I want to try treatment one more time. However, every time I go I panic, get flustered, forget things I want to mention, or intentionally hide/minimize problems. I have tried writing a document out to give them, but I lack concentration and it quickly becomes confusing, rambling, or otherwise just garbage. What I was hoping to find was some sort of resource or suggestions for direct questions I can pre-answer in the comfort of my home; my intention is then to pass this to my friend and have him go with me. It helps focus me and keep panic to a minimum; the general idea of "describe what is wrong" doesn't help me identify problems. Thank you. |

Actually, I encourage you to write something out. Not to give to the doctor but something to help yourself stay on point. Keep it short, to maybe bullet points. I have gone to my own doc with a list of things I am feeling and it has really helped. I used to forget something I wanted to say all the time. Now I'm able to keep on track. But keep it short like a quick list.
ex I went yesterday and my list looked like: BF daughter niece hurt anger frustration That will really help both you AND the doctor. |
