I'm brand new so some of my questions may have been gone over and over already. Dealing with my 83 yr old mother with aggressive dementia. Has anyone know of any problems with these two as treatments together. She is very sensitive to medications and side effects. I am trying both together, small doses buspar 5 mg, atavan .5 mg. She also has sleep myoclonus. These seem to help. Has anyone heard of side effects of long term use of buspar. It seems like I read about irreversible spasms like myoclonus or dyskinesia in some people. Any help would be great.

Hello DaytonaUser: This is really a question for a gerontologist or other medical doctor. From my perspective, anything any of us here on PC might say with regard to this would be just an opinion... a shot in the dark, so to speak. So I would like to encourage you to seek a professional opinion from your mother's treating physician. I wish you well...
