Apparently, my mother ran afoul of a nurse on the behavior ward last night. Bedtime was 10:30 and the nurse tried to get everyone to bed at 9. When my mother apparently verbally protested, the nurse physically tried to move her to bed, leaving scratches on her. Is there somewhere to report this, like an association? I was not thereband only have her word, and am sure the law will side with the nurse, since more nurses are assaulted or otherwise harmed by patients than vice versa, possibly.

you can also get a print out of the facilities rules and updates \ recent changes to those rules like bedtimes. here in my location in the facilities sometimes though beditime rules are on way, each client has their own treatment requirements. one common one here where I am is that some patients get their meds at a certain time and the meds have side effects that make it unsafe for that patient to be up wandering. sometimes here too when other patients are not being safe and for fire\safety drills all patients need to be escorted\ placed in their rooms\beds... my point there are many different reasons why a facilities bed time has to be ignored and not carried through. the facility can tell you what all this is as it pertains directly to your mother and the facility. if after contacting the facility and seeing your mothers treatment plans you are not satisfied you contact your locations medical\ mental ethics boards. |

I don't even know if what she did merits legal intervention, but I thought I would ask. I may call the hospital administration Mon morning to see what the rules are for getting a patient to comply with orders on the ward.

there is a law against nurses or Dr. being violence toward patients. You can call the medical board or the hospital and speak to the upper people (that above the nurses). Also I would take pictures of the scratches she have. that will prove what the nurse did. I wish you luck

If all else fails and you are determined to complain you can contact JCAHO - Report a Patient Safety Event | Joint Commission
