These continuous screwing-overs by jobs are making me give up hope that I may never find a job I like or a job I'll be able to keep...so how does disability work? I feel like it's my only option and I know no one wants to be on disability but I'm giving up hope here.

I had to go on disability about 15 years ago. Fortunately I am married (he is also disabled), so we get more money. But I'd say "it works." I sometimes feel sad, though, that I can't teach anymore.

I had planned to work until I was 65 but became unable to work before that. So I took disability. It really doesn't pay me enough to live on as my husband is on SS but it almost does when added to his SS. I would rather be working as I get bored easily.

I always pulled my own weight and never thought I would have to be on SSDI
but now I can no longer work so I am thankful that it is there for me even if it is not really enough. It can be very hard to except that you need it but I finally did except it and you will come to terms with it after a while.

So...it sounds like disability would be pointless because you can't live off of it.
